If you and I had to sit in a room and you were the student and I was the teacher what would you like to learn from me?

Good morning and welcome to Family Friday. On this day in 2007 my Mother Barbara Ann Hayes was laid to rest.
Barbara Hayes passed away Nov. 6, 2007; she was beloved by many.
Her life began in Albany, Ga., on Jan. 13, 1935, the proud daughter of John Hayes and Katie Silas. Barbara moved to New York with relatives and graduated from White Plains High.
While in New York, Barbara met James Hayes and they had three children together, who are Larry, David and Derrick Hayes. The four grandchildren in Barbara’s life are Kali Hayes, David Hayes II, Alex Hayes and Amber Hayes.
Barbara was the oldest of 11 children. The brothers are Ralph (deceased), Lawrence (deceased), Perry (deceased), Eddie (deceased), George, Jackie and Curtis. The sisters are Yvonne, Freda and Eileen.
Mother Barbara was a true sports fan. She was a Cubs, Bulls and Bears fan to heart. Barbara once bowled over 200 as a competitive bowler. Barbara encouraged others to be the best that they could be and to work smarter and not harder.
Barbara Hayes has lived in Rantoul, for over 37 years and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. church in Champaign, where she served as an usher.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Nov. 12, at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 401 E. Park Ave, Champaign. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul. Visitation hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove, Rantoul.
Everyone has asked “If I can do anything for you please let me know.” In the words of my mother she would say, “Write my children a check.”
