Did 2014 workout the way you wanted it to? In 2015 many people will come up with New Years Resolutions without a plan in place to get things done. The thought of struggling year after year chasing dream after dream should make you want to scream.

The next time you scream start putting passion and purpose into your dream so that you can see and hear the possibilities in your future. Scream like never before so that the noise this time helps your message become heard and that it is loud and effective enough that you could be also be found in a crowded room.

When a baby exits the Mother’s womb one of the first things they do is to let out a scream. Look at your life like you still have time to give birth to ideas, inventions and institutions so that the world can scream out your name.

Through the word SCREAM I will share with you 6 things you can do now to help you build your cash cow and  Make Your Dream SCREAM in 2015.

With my Dad James Hayes, Jr. Be thankful of those that dreamed of you.

With my Dad James Hayes, Jr. Be thankful of those that dreamed of you.

The S is so that you Speak Your Dream. Anyone can have a dream but many are afraid to speak life into it. You have the power to speak positive and negative into your life. Talk to your dream daily and share with others that have your best interests at heart. The more you speak your dream the more it will become a permanent and positive thought in your your mind that will attract the right ideas and instruction so that your dream can reach it’s destiny.

It is known that it takes at least 21 days for a habit to become permanent in your life. Several attempts may be necessary for others to believe in you enough to make you a part of their day. Keep sharing your insight day after day and you may soon become the expert that others see you as.

The C is so that you Content Your Dream. After you are confident in speaking your dream to life start writing it down. Simply pull out a piece of paper and “write it down and make it plain,” just like it says in Habbakuk.

Think about why is this your dream and write it down into an affirmation statement that you can read and speak life into your dream.  Write this statement on a piece of paper that you can keep with you or near you at all times.

This is necessary because people, places and things will come your way to only distract you away from your dreams to help them with their dreams. You have to know when to say win.

Now pull out another piece of paper along with your affirmation statement and write down what your dream inspires you to write. The ideas that pour out in this brainstorming session will be phenomenal. Give it a chance and don’t limit yourself. Many have discovered that for the first time that they could write poems, stories, quotes and even novels. Some will even come up with ideas for articles that could produce future books or movies.

The R is so that you Resource Your Dream. Once you see for yourself how your dream can benefit others find ways in which you can share these nuggets of wisdom. If you are on social media platforms like Twitter, Linked In, Facebook, Google Plus or YouTube you already have an audience that you can share your dream with and get immediate feedback.

If you like to write short pieces like quotes a good idea is to open up a Twitter or Facebook account and share your ideas with your friends or followers. If you are a long distance writer a blog with WordPress or Blogger would be a good idea and if making videos to empower others is your cup a tea give YouTube or Tube Mogul a try.

AskDerrickAboutThe E is so that you Expert Your Dream. In order to be the best you have to want to be the best. Learn how to turn what you understand into a brand. I will share with you three things I started to do that help establish myself as an Encouragement Expert. Add what you learn to this list and share it with others.

#1. Build a brand with your content. Each weekday I share The DAILY (Derricknyms, App and Idea to Lift You) Message throughout my social media and subscribers of my Motivation To Your Mobile Android and iPhone app receive a positive word of encouragement right to their phones to give them boost at the start of each day.

#2. Get quoted. In 2008 when the economy was declining I started looking for ways to get free publicity and I started getting quoted in blogs and on other online publications like CNN.com and MSNBC.com. Recently I emailed over 100 educational reporters to possibly write a story about me and the one response I received was from Daily Edventures a blog published by Microsoft and they honored me as a Global Hero in Education.

#3. Write articles. Some of the publications that I write for on a regular basis are magazines such as B.O.S.S., Gigare Lifestyle Magazine, and the Holistic Times Newsletter. Find blogs, newspapers and magazines that you are interested in writing for and see what their writer guidelines are and start submitting your best articles today.

As you continue to build your brand and you are quoted along with your articles appearing in publications start to develop a press page that you can update where you list all of your accomplishments in one place and a press release so that you can keep getting the word out about what you are doing.

The A is so that you Align Your Dream. A great lesson I learned with business and life is that you can only go so far by yourself and that you must network and connect with others so that you can BUILD relationships.  A great way to partner with like minds is to offer them opportunities to share their talents with your audience. When you do this it opens doors for more people to want to work with you. Here are three opportunities that I offer to other entrepreneurs, experts and celebrities so that we can connect and get to know each other without any pressure of having to do business together.

#1. Interview other experts. One day I decided to use my name to create DERRICK Interviews where each letter of my name inspires a question that will allow others to tell their unique story through my brand. I have done over 250 DERRICK Interviews via email, over the phone and in person. Go to DERRICK Interviews for more information where you will see the questions that are asked and other DERRICK Interviews that I have done.

TodaysHonoree#2. Honor people. After talking to L.J. Holloway one day I was inspired to start a blog where we would recognize someone each day of the week that is making  a positive contribution to our society. This brainstorm session is what inspired Today’s Honoree. The decision was also made that I could not nominate anyone myself and that the people that are featured have to be recommended by one their peers. Today’s Honoree has featured over 750 people and each person that is nominated and featured can pay it forward and nominate others that deserve recognition.

#3. Let others write.  After writing articles for several blogs and publications I realized the importance of offering Guest Blogging Opportunities to others so they could have the chance to become published that would assist in building their portfolios and brands. On Encouragement Speaker people can write guest blog posts that are encouraging including topics such as Words Of Encouragement for their industry, College Shout Out, Importance Of Building Relationships and Welcome To My City.

The M is so that you Monetize Your Dream. When you are able to use your skills and pay some bills it gives you a feeling of accomplishment. Martin Luther King, Jr. didn’t just want you to have a dream. Dr. King marched, boycotted and fought for Civil Rights so that you can “Make Your Dream SCREAM in 2015.”  When you Speak, Content, Resource, Expert and Align your Dream you will be in a good position to Monetize Your Dream. Here are 3 ways you can Monetize Your Dream.

#1. Get paid to speak. There is an audience that will pay you for what you are an expert at. The College Market is one where I present to students and staff on the topics of Personal and Professional Branding, Networking and How to BUILD Relationships. Through my own campus experiences when I was a student I teach others how to find their own entrepreneurship opportunities while working from their dorm room as well as how to give back and pay it forward by starting scholarships funds that can help raise millions of dollars to keep kids in school with their dreams alive.

In the past I have lectured at colleges and universities such as Tennessee State University, Middle Tennessee State University, University of Illinois, Clarion University, Jackson State University, Columbus State University, Bowie State University, AIU Buckhead and many others.

#2. Get paid to consult. When you begin to speak to groups and organizations people will be interested in learning how you are able to get paid to do what you do. This can be a golden opportunity for you to develop a training program that will assist others to help make their dream SCREAM.

#3. Write books. Back in 2000 I wrote and self published my first book entitled Derricknyms that I went on to sell over 4,000 copies out my car. During my self publishing days I was able to meet celebrities such as Mike Epps, Butch Carter, Pastor Troy, Ecstacy of Whodini and Herschel Walker who were inspired by my story and bought a copy of my book right out of my hands.

The more you dream the more your life will SCREAM. Keep finding ways to Speak, Content, Expert, Align and Monetize your Dream so that your passion and purpose will not only SCREAM but put you in position so that the noise you do make will be heard by the right people.

I pray that after you read this article you are able to, “Make Your Dream SCREAM in 2015.”

It happened overnight. I said I could do something and it became a brand. When I wrote my first book I knew that I could turn words into positive messages. Some called them acronyms but when they needed a name I added mine and they became Derricknyms. Now everywhere I go people call me Derricknyms because of what I can do and how my gift makes them feel when I personalize their name.

One of my greatest Derricknyms is WOE for Words Of Encouragement. When I was down and out I read in the bible, “Woe is me.” When I looked up WOE in the dictionary it stated that woe was a trial or tribulation. A woe to one may be losing a job while to another it might be losing a loved one. No longer wanting woe to be negative the slogan came to me that “Before you leave work or go to sleep at night, Give someone a WOE, a Word Of Encouragement.” Through WOE I realized that a brand can come through something you are great at and also through a situation that you have to go through.

After evaluating my life I realized that everything I do comes through one word. I traced my motivational speaking roots that go back to 1992 and came up with a formula that if applied can bring you favor.

Life itself breaks things down to me in terms of words and in my humble opinion there are 7 keys to success. These keys to success that I will leave you with are the ones that are the basis for my new book 1 Word Is All It Takes To Build Your Brand.

The 1st key to success is to Find Your Word. Look at what you do or are good at and try to simplify it in one word. My word is Encouragement. If you can pinpoint exactly who and what you are it allows you to focus on what you need to do.

The 2nd key to success is to Speak Your Word. Write down why this is your word and turn it into an affirmation that you can use to speak life into your dream. Write this statement on a piece of paper that you can keep with you or near you at all times.

The 3rd key to success is to Activate Your Word. Pull out a piece of paper and write down what your word inspires you to write. The ideas that pour out in this brainstorming session will be phenomenal. Give it a chance and don’t limit yourself. Many have discovered that for the first time that they could write poems, stories, quotes and even novels. Some will even come up with ideas for articles that could produce future books or movies.

The 4th key to success is to Name Your Word. Take some of the ideas that you have brainstormed and give them a title. When I wanted to describe myself when I marketed my workshops I used my word and called myself the Encouragement Speaker. Each article or concept that you bring to life has value and with the right brand there is no limit to how far you can go with it.

The 5th key to success is to Share Your Word.

The 6th key to success is to Keep Your Word. It is known that it takes at least 21 days for a habit to become permanent in your life. Several attempts may be necessary for others to believe in you enough to make you a part of their day. Keep sharing your insight day after day and you may soon become the expert that others see you as.

The 7th key to success is to Live Your Word. Once you learn to keep your word it will become a part of your lifestyle where you wake up and Live Your Word. When this happens you will have a brand that can stand because 1Word Is All It Takes To Build Your Brand.
