BILD Your Legacy: The Emmanuel Brunson Story

March 31, 2020

by Derrick Hayes the “enTIEtainer

A few years ago I was sitting in a classroom with a Co-Worker who was also a Father, Husband, Soldier, Coach, Athlete and soon to be one of my Community Partners. Emmanuel Brunson was telling me how he was helping young athletes learn how to play the quarterback position but at the time he did not know the power in what he was doing.

Every time Emmanuel Brunson would bring it up to me I would ask him one question and that was, are you Video taping the sessions? The next question I would ask him is do you have a program in place to offer what you do to other athletes?

Brunson stepped out on faith and started B.I.L.D. (Brunson’s ILITE Level Development) and through the name of BILD I’m here to share the story of Emmanuel Brunson so that others can be inspired to B.I.L.D. their own legacy.

B is so that you Believe:

As time went on Coach Brunson not only listened to my advice but he asked me to be a guest speaker at his programs start up that would take place back where he grew up in Columbus, Ga in the Wilson Housing Projects. It was a blessing to bring neck ties and books out with a positive message to the youth during the Friday Night Lights Sessions.

I is so that you Innovate:

EB as some in his inner circle call him took the momentum from Friday Night Lights and went for it and started B.I.L.D. (Brunson’s ILITE Level Development) an athletic and performance company that specialized in football training. B.I.L.D. started to grow because of the work with athletes and non athletes that helped them reach their goals in sports and in overall health.

L is so that you Let others help:

Emmanuel knew that in order to not wear down and burn out he needed to grow his B.I.L.D. team with other athletes that could train like Coach Mike Jones and Coach DJ Lemons.

Each coach brings something different to the table and that is why B.I.L.D has the ability to teach athletes and non athletes how to gain in the areas of speed, agility, strength and conditioning along with weight loss and toning.

D is so that you Don’t stop:

When B.I.L.D. lived up to their philosophy of helping others accomplish goals by making sure that they had the most unique and high performance training Emmanuel Brunson and the B.I.L.D.  team were able to grow out of one facility and start an even bigger one with more programs and opportunities to help athletes grow into their potential.

When you Believe, Innovate, Let others Help and Don’t stop you can B.I.L.D. anything and even B.I.L.D. Your Legacy. For more information on B.I.L.D. please go to their website at http://ilitedevelopment.com/

DERRICK Hayes Interview with Designer Drea DaVinci

November 24, 2015

DreaEncouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes gives a DERRICK Interview by asking 7 questions through each letter of his first name to give you an insightful perspective from other experts, entrepreneurs, celebrities and up and coming super stars.

Today’s DERRICK Interview is with DreaDaVinci who is first and foremost an artist.  DreaDaVinci is a renaissance woman who wants to dominate today’s fashion landscape. Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the Univeristy of Oregon in combination with studies abroad of art and culture have honed her creative eye and skill set. Drea utilizes her knowledge and experience in fashion blogging, celebrity styling, development of online boutiques, and marketing. Her design aesthetic ranges from fashion forward looks to timeless classics. Drea’s world travels have inspired a collection of clothing geared towards today’s tastemakers and trendsetters. DreaDavinci Clothing is a lifestyle and a movement that symbolizes the finer things and a love of the good life.

D is for Dream. What is your dream, goals or what have you achieved?

Above all, I want to be happy.  My dream is to travel as much of the world as possible. I dream of living on a beautiful beach and painting pieces that I can incorporate into my clothing designs.  I want to use my abilities to inspire other artists and business people alike to create and innovate.  I had a dream of creating the dreadavinci brand and watching it manifest has been literally a dream come true!

E is for Education. What is your educational background and how do you use it daily?

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Ethnic Studies with a minor in Political Science from the University of Oregon.  I studied art and culture abroad and have traveled extensively, although there is so much more of the world I can’t wait to see!  I use my education to help interpret the social constructs around us, and to practice critical thinking and to “think outside the Matrix” if you will.  My first job out of college was in finance and I am so thankful to have a grasp on how to navigate the world of finance as it is vital in owning and running a company.

R is for Resource. What resources do you bring to the table that makes you unique or stand out?

What makes my brand so strong is my team.  I have one of the best designers in the world working with me, Dallas Stokes.  He has been in the industry for decades  and is extremely talented and well connected, with a hugely successful track record.   I also have one of the best production managers in the business, Ralph De Blanc, with over 30 years of experience.   He has a priceless skill set and a wealth of knowledge!  We all speak the same language of working hard, upholding good business ethics, transparency in all matters of communication, loyalty, and honesty.  The dreadavinci brand is unique in that the designs reflect our experiences as world travelers and connoisseurs of style.

R is for Ready. When did you realize you were ready for what you are doing now?

I realized I was ready almost a year ago when I found the niche in the market that needed filling.  I had previously owned an online boutique and had styled various celebrities.  My experience in marketing towards a fashion based demographic, driving traffic and search engine optimization, social media marketing, blogging, finance, and buying and selling different clothing lines helped prepare me to have my own company.  Also my background as an artist helped my confidence in my ability to design.  I saw that there was a niche for my line, and it’s been a lot fun exploring that opportunity.

I is for Individual. Name at least one individual in your network that others should learn more about and why?

Dallas Stokes.  Because his resume is unparalleled.  He went straight from high school at the age of 17 designing shoes and brands that have literally transformed the entire industry.  Look him up, his body of work is crazy.

C is for Challenges. What challenges have you had to overcome?

I’m not sure if many people realize how challenging it really is to get a shoe line produced. The day that we had confirmation that my shoes were going to be made, tears of joy were cried.  It still feels surreal to know that there’s an entire factory full of people working on my line, I have to pinch myself sometimes!

K is for Key. What keys to success can you leave for upcoming entrepreneurs and leaders?

First and foremost, believe in yourself and never give up.  Surround yourself with positivity.  Don’t be afraid to sacrifice to get where you are going.  Read and do your research!  Two books really changed my life:  The Four Agreements and the Law of Attraction.  When one learns to harness the power of their minds and focus their mental towards manifesting magic, then magic happens!  I am a huge advocate of practicing gratitude for all blessings.  Surround yourself with people who are smart, successful, honest, and know more than you do.  Don’t be afraid of failure, be afraid of the failure to try. “Don’t let anyone outwork you” is a mantra my Dad instilled in me, and those words remind me constantly to aim higher and work harder.

Is there anything that we did not touch on that you would like to inspire others with?

To be able to create a brand from just an idea in less than a year, and to have such a positive reception is truly humbling.  I am so thankful for the opportunity, and so excited to share my designs with the world!

Visit Drea DaVinci for more information.

January 26, 2014

AndreClarkEncouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes gives a DERRICK Interview by asking 7 questions through each letter of his first name to give you an insightful perspective from other experts, entrepreneurs, celebrities and up and coming super stars.

Today’s DERRICK Interview is with Andre’ T. Clark AKA Young Bles-Son (Bles-Son=Blessing). You may ask why is that the name? It’s because I have been through plenty accidents through my whole life and the name is self explanatory itself. The name means a child of God living with a blessing to still be living! People say I should have been dead many times but thanks to God I’m still here today. People say that God has a plan/mission for me which I know. I was blessed with a gift in music from writing songs to  producing music. I believe that my mission towards God is to bring the lost souls from all over the world back home to God and Church.

The D is for Dream.

My goals to get signed to label proclaiming God’s name to world.

The E is for Education.

I graduated 2003 but going back to take up computers & etc…

The R is for Resource.

I rap Biblical, write songs, & produce my own material.

The R is for Ready.

I realized this was already bestowed in me to do is after mid 2007

The I is for Individual.

The whole world should know that God is real & He’s returning real soon.

The C is for Challenges.

Every day we fight battles with flesh & self but putting your trust in God & leaning not unto your own understanding & He’ll take higher than the world can.

The K is for Keys to Success.

The keys to success is totally depending & putting life in God’s hand & not worry about anything the world has to offer. In closing remarks: trust, believe, obey & walk in God’s standards in your life!

Visit Andre’ T. Clark for more information.

DERRICK Interview with the Multi Talented Orrin K. Loftin

July 30, 2013

OrrinLoftin Orrin hails from Fayetteville, North Carolina.  He is currently a retired Captain out of the United States Air Force where he proudly served as a Satellite Operations Officer.  Among other things he was an actor who resided in LA for a short while and gives special thanks to Mr. David Parry who was his acting instructor.  Orrin currently resides in and amongst the beautiful mountains and foothills of Great Falls, Montana where he avidly writes poetry as can be gleaned to be seen in his new book, “My Divine Pantomimes”.

This year’s quote:  Music is the new frontier with which to endear without fear,…

D is for Dream. What are your dreams, goals or what have you achieved?

My dream is to build a pyramid of accomplishments to be inspired by and to inspire others with.  The goal in doing so will hopefully be accomplished through my music, poems and videos while keeping in mind to help someone along the way.

E is for Education. What is your educational background and how do you use it daily?

I graduated from Fayetteville State University with a bachelors in Mathematics.  I graduated from Webster university with a double major masters degree in both Space Systems Management and Computer Systems Management.

Math and Computers are but the fabric of day to day life which I find useful in dealing with everything from finances, taxes or costs involved in producing a new album or poetry book.  It is gratifying to be able to take your fields of study and use them throughout your life like a Swiss Army knife.

R is for Resource. What resources do you bring to the table that make you unique or stand out?

I bring to the table that which I’ve been blessed with in terms of creativity, ingenuity and positivity.  Any math or computer major will tell you that the task is eternal in coming up with some kind of solution.  In writing poetry there’s the necessity to create something new that dwells within you.  Music is but the fabric sewn from magic, requiring you to surge with a creative urge.  It is all you can do to pursue that which is a part of you.

R is for Ready. When did you realize you were ready for what you are doing now?

It wasn’t so much as a realization or an epiphany. It was when I made the song Prance Dance that I simply decided I was going to do an album.  I figured that rather than toying with a demo tape why not go straight to a finished product which can always be improved upon.  As a matter of fact it’s exactly how I do my poetry.  I don’t send in drafts.  I send in a finished product for review and from there all parties involved can see what to do.

With the album Fire Heart it was simply a burning desire to reach for something higher. So now this is what I pursue to do.

I is for Individual. Name at least one person that you know that you feel others should learn about and why?

I feel others should learn about LtCol Richard Peace.  He’s a financial advisor out of Colorado Springs who knows how to assist you in establishing a sound financial foundation for life.  Whatever the topic or concern you may have he is there for you.  He is truthful and does not claim to have the answer to everything.  He feels the need for all of us to succeed.

C is for Challenges. What challenges have you had to overcome?

I really don’t want the answer to be disseminated because I do not want to be a sob story with woeful allegories.

Grand Mal Seizures

Artificial Shoulders

Being Passed Over for Major

Being a Permanently Disable Vet

Divorce

Major Depression

Me Getting in my Own Way,…

K is for Key. What keys to success can you leave for upcoming entrepreneurs and leaders?

I think what is key is to build upon the pyramid of your talents, hopes and dreams.  In preparing, learning and exploring with dedication and determination you at least give yourself a chance to dance.  Don’t wait to be uncovered to be discovered.  Go at it now with at least the benefit of learning how.  Often efforts in one area translate to another.

Work on what you pursue to do on a day to day basis and let the calendar be your friend from beginning to end.

Maintain your health for you are your own musical instrument with which to play each and every day and remember to pray each and every day and please feel a need to assist others who are indeed in need.

Is there anything that we did not touch on that you would like to inspire others with?

Whatever it is that you want to do if you believe you can achieve even if you don’t do anything with it.  I set up Loftin Algorithms, Inc.  just to see what was involved in setting up a corporation.  For eons I did nothing with it.  Today it’s my record label.
