The #1 Encouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes gives a DERRICK Interview by asking 7 questions through each letter of his first name to give you an insightful perspective from other experts, entrepreneurs, celebrities and up and coming super stars.

Today’s DERRICK Interview is with Charlie Ardinger who has been in the Navy just over 28 years.  Charlie has been fortunate enough to have advanced through the enlisted ranks and achieved a commission through the Limited Duty Officer Program.  His current assignment is Aircraft Handling Officer (Handler) onboard the USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65).  Officer Ardinger is married to Teresa Ardinger.

D is for DreamMy dream is for everyone to respect and get along with one another.  My goal is to bring happiness and unity with me everywhere I go.  I have achieved so much in my life but none of my success has been what I have done.  My parents, wife, family, friends and Shipmates are the reason I am where I am today and where I will go tomorrow.

E is for Encourage. Challenges encourage me.  I never take no for an answer.  If there is a will there is a way to get it done.  I like to make sure everyone gets what they need and everything gets accomplished.

R is for Resource. I am a very optimistic person that has been subject to a variety of environments and cultures which intrigues me.  I have met so many interesting people during my travels that I can relate to almost everyone and anything.

R is for Ready. My father is a retired Navy Chief so I grew up in the Navy but I didn’t realize that this was my calling until after 10 years or so of actually doing the job.  I really enjoyed what I was doing but wanted to achieve more so I could take better care of the people who supported me.

I is for Individual. My mother, Georginia Ardinger.  She is energetic and full of life.  She has worked very hard her entire life and has expected nothing in return.  She is the main reason I am where I am today.

C is for Continue. Failure is not in my vocabulary nor will I let it control me or anyone I know.   When things get hard then you need to try harder, knock on more doors and be there for those around you because people count on you and I don’t want to let them down.

K is for Key. The one thing I can say is when you look into the mirror and if you feel you have done all you could today and feel satisfied with what you have accomplished for the day then you are on the right track.

I am not perfect and I make mistakes but I try to fix those mistakes and move on to the next.  I don’t dwell in the past because of them but if I need to change something then I do it.  There is a bright future for everyone and if you think it will just fall into your lap then you are the lucky one I guess.  I have to strive for it and I encourage others to do the same.
