TIP Tuesday

May 2, 2017
Welcome to TIP (To Increase Possibilities) Tuesday where I give you a nugget that can help you build a gold mine.
Use your blog or social media to feature others in and outside of your network and industry.
A few years ago I was asked to do PR for a great friend and it was put in my spirit to start a blog called Today’s Honoree where other people would nominate other people. Today’s Honoree at http://www.TodaysHonoree.com has now featured over 1,000 people and it gives each person that is featured the power to pay it forward and nominate others that deserve recognition.
Here are the basic resources you need to give back to others.
1. Picture.
2. Bio or resource box.
3. Website or blog
4. Social media links
When you give up space to promote another face it will organically take your dream to an incredible unknown place. The unknown can take you from working for someone to working on your own.
Stop looking at others like they are a funny creature but look inside them and see how to tell their story with a feature.

DERRICK Hayes Interview with Author Ron Walker

December 12, 2015

RonWalkerEncouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes gives a DERRICK Interview by asking 7 questions through each letter of his first name to give you an insightful perspective from other experts, entrepreneurs, celebrities and up and coming super stars.

Today’s DERRICK Hayes Interview is with Ron Walker who was born in Thomaston GA and raised just outside of Atlanta, GA in Clayton County. With over ten years of speaking under his belt, Ron has grown into a well trained empowerment speaker. He delivers a passionate message centered on self-motivation, overcoming obstacles and achieving goals. In order to aid others in their voyage, he has developed several books and CD projects. Projects include “I Almost Gave Up,” “It’s My Time,” “On track to the Kingdom,” “Your Best Day Today,” “The Lost Works of a Lost Soul,” “One Day at a Time,” “Passion 101” and “Dollar and a Dream: Succeed or Die Trying.” All of his projects are internationally distributed and can be found wherever you buy books or CD’s including Amazon, iTunes, Napster and Sony.

Ron has a bachelor’s degree in Theology and in Psychology. He is a licensed and ordained Christian minister and oversees Better Way Ministries, an outreach ministry specializing in motivating others to find and define their purpose.

Dream:

My dream is to simply encourage people in a way that propels them into their destiny. I simply aim to be a cog in the process, a catalyst of sorts that gets the ball rolling in the right direction. I believe in momentum, but sometimes what separates achievers from under achievers is a push in the right direction. Through my writing, speaking, ministry and even business, I aim to be that push towards purpose.

Education:RonWalkerBook

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in both Theology and Psychology. Seeing as how I’m constantly dealing with people, I use them both daily. Understanding the minds and motivations of people are key in being able to break through to them and motivate them. My formal and informal education allow me to better understand people from different backgrounds, their different obstacles in life and the different factors that influence their decisions. I mentioned in my motivational audio book, “Dollar and a Dream,” the importance of what school, church and the streets taught me and how they influence me daily. It’s important to be able to utilize all facets of education. That’s also why I make it a goal to learn something new everyday.

Resource:

I think with every person, if they can’t bring anything else to the table, they at least bring their past, their experiences and the knowledge base they have developed based on those unique experiences. I am who I am because of what I’ve been through over the years. I bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding to the table because of where I’ve come from and what I’ve been through. I was born with little, went through much and have come out in a pretty good position. No one else can tell my story like me.

Ready:

I realized I was ready around the age of nine. I started my first business back then and have developed over the years. I started writing and receiving rewards and acknowledgements for it back when I was in middle school and I started speaking and teaching in church towards the beginning of high school. I don’t think anyone knows everything about where they are going or will end up in life, but as far as being ready…I’ve been ready, but I’m constantly preparing for more as well. I’m ready and getting ready all at the same time. I’m ever expanding.

Individual:

It’s difficult for me to think of one person in my network to single out as person that others should learn more about. My friends are doing many great things in their respective industries. Justin and Akuba Dawkins are on the precipice of making great developments in the Tech world. Lyndon Batiste, Phil Daniels, Niko Villamor are doing wonders with music. Levar Norsworthy is making great strides in marketing. And there are so many more. If I had to highlight one person, I would say that my father Pastor Daniel Fagan is one to know because of his understanding of love and leadership. I believe that more of us need to understand how to love people and lead effectively.

Challenges:

As is pointed out in my new book, “I Almost Gave Up,” divorce, financial struggles, the decline of a business, the loss of a very close loved one and so many other things have been challenges I’ve had to overcome, but it’s all a part of life. We all have obstacles and challenges, but I’m a believer that for every problem there is a solution. I don’t focus as much on challenges as I focus on solutions. It’s a part of what helps me to continue to succeed.

Keys for Success:

As mentioned before, focusing on solutions instead of problems is key to success. I wrote a book not too long ago called, “It’s My Time: Stop Complaining and Start Changing.” In my opinion, it’s imperative to seek change over complaints. We can all find something to be unhappy about and we can all find something to be happy about, but the choice is ours. Never give up. Keep smiling and keep persevering. The battle isn’t given to the strong, but to the one that endures. If we keep pushing, persevering and being relentless in our efforts, eventually we will succeed. To me, true success comes when we realize that the joy is in the journey, not the destination. If we can learn to enjoy each day and appreciate the ride that life takes us on, success becomes an ever present reality.

DERRICK Interview with Chief Inspiration Officer Diane Hansen

November 8, 2012

Encouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes gives a DERRICK Interview by asking 7 questions through each letter of his first name to give you an insightful perspective from other experts, entrepreneurs, celebrities and up and coming super stars.

Today’s DERRICK Interview  is with Diane Hansen who has helped countless businesses identify profitable target markets, expand product lines, communicate to their audience and increase bottom-line revenue through her company, Hansen Marketing Communications. She is also Editor-in-Chief for GETAWAY San Diego and GETAWAY San Francisco magazines and is the creator of the Discover Your Identity Process, a process that takes businesses from fuzzy conceptions about who they are and how they serve, to making it crystal clear for them.

D is for Dream: What is your dream and what have you achieved?

After years of driving a desk (ie: being stuck in the mindset that a W-2 job was the only way to live) I pulled the trigger on living my dream of being able to work when I wanted, where I wanted, on my own terms, with the clients I wanted. Today, I am the owner of Hansen Marketing Communications and the creator of the Discover Your Identity process.

E is for Encourage: What encourages you?

What encourages me is to see my clients succeed! I LOVE success stories. I love to see my clients do well, reach their goals, and fulfill their dreams. It’s the reason I do what I do.

R is for Resource: What resources do you bring to the table that makes you unique or stand out?

I have been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, wore that t-shirt out and bought another one. I LIVE what I coach. (You would be surprised how many coaches and consultants DON’T) I’m open to continuous learning and use that learning to enhance my life and the lives of those I serve.

R is for Ready: When did you realize you were ready for what you are doing now?

I was ready when I realized I wasn’t efficient any other way! When I was forced to be where I didn’t want to be, my energy was low, I was scattered – it wasn’t “right” so my work wasn’t right.

I is for Individual: Name at least one person that you know that you feel others should learn about and why?

I think that people should learn about – THEMSELVES. Only by knowing yourself, what your talents are, what makes you happy, what YOUR identity is, will you ever see success.

C is for Continue: When you fail and things look bleak or are not optimistic what makes you want to continue?

Tenacity – The fact that I have set my mindset and FAILURE is not an option. When things look bleak, I look for solutions. I get the crying out of the way and then I take action.

K is for Key: What keys to success can you leave for upcoming entrepreneurs and leaders?

There are two keys to success, knowing who you are/what you can provide and growing your network so you can find people to serve.

Is there anything that we did not touch on that you would like to inspire others with?

I came from a small town in Texas. I didn’t come from a rich family or even a family who believed a girl’s place was outside of the home. I did this on my own and I can inspire others to do it too. (By the way, today, my mother is my biggest cheerleader – I changed her mindset, too).

DERRICK Interview with Coach Lorraine Esposito

October 9, 2012

Encouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes gives a DERRICK Interview by asking 7 questions through each letter of his first name to give you an insightful perspective from other experts, entrepreneurs, celebrities and up and coming super stars.

Today’s DERRICK Interview is with Lorraine Esposito who is a professional life and fitness coach and nationally recognized author of The Peacemaker Parent. She has been featured in broadcast, radio, print, and online media. Lorraine is also a coach training instructor and mentor coach for the world’s largest coach training organization.

D is for Dream. What is your dream, goals or what have you achieved?

a. My dream is to create a generation of people who can think for themselves and have the courage to do something about it.

b. My goal is to empower all people with greater personal influence.

c. I have achieved powerful influence personally which in turn has created leadership and courage in others, most importantly my two teenage sons.

E is for Encourage. What encourages you?

a. I’m encouraged by mistakes. Each time I goof, or my kids goof, I’m encouraged to find the perfection in the situation and to leverage the perfection for even greater wisdom and growth.

R is for Resource. What resources do you bring to the table that makes you unique or stand out?

a. I am a unique resource. I’ve lived so many different lives, i.e. poor and obese in the mid-west, corporate manager in the north east, fitness expert all over, author, mother, teacher, mentor, and three-time business owner. I’ve learned AND experienced so many different things that I share common ground and understanding with practically everyone. This broad base of experience allows me to connect tools, information, and insight to the individuals that I serve.

R is for Ready. When did you realize you were ready for what you are doing now?

a. I knew I was ready for my current venture because I had proven my ideas successful in a variety of ways. Personal victory wasn’t enough to give me the confidence to suggest and advise others, so I sought and received support from professionals. The blessings and support given early in my first shaky steps were essential to my courage to live into my passion.

I is for Individual. Name at least one person that you know that you feel others should learn about and why?

a. There are two individuals I highly recommend people take time to explore: one is living and the other is not.

i. My living recommended person is Becky Blanton. The journey of her life is filled with the highest highs and the lowest lows. Becky’s life is a living demonstration of the power of courage, resiliency, and faith.

ii. The other person I highly recommend people get acquainted with is Leonardo da Vinci—not for his legacy of art (though amazing and wonderful) but for his 7 principles of living a meaningful life. His genius is most profoundly experienced by understanding his mind.

C is for Continue. When you fail, things look bleak or are not optimistic what makes you want to continue?

a. Continuing with my passion is not an option for me. I have identified the most important reason for living my life in pursuit of leadership: Without the ability to think for themselves, the next generation of leaders will destroy the planet. With clarity like that, falling down isn’t even noticed.

K is for Key. What keys to success can you leave for upcoming entrepreneurs and leaders?

a. The most important key is the most difficult to find. The key is YOU—no one else can do what you do in the way it needs to be done. Often I’ll suggest to my players (as a coach I have players not clients) that they endorse their greatest weakness. By offering even the aspects of yourself that you wish to hide, you open a world of possibilities and opportunities. Our greatest strengths are found in our humanity.

Is there anything that we did not touch on that you would like to inspire others with?

a. One last thing to consider is that every adult is a role model for the kids that watch. Whether you are a parent, teacher, athletic coach, religious leader, or just an everyday guy or gal, there are kids watching what you do. Your deeds speak volumes and contribute to the creation of our planet’s legacy. Please, choose your actions wisely.
