Encouragement for Fathers
October 24, 2008In a few minutes I’m going to go get my kids for the weekend. I love my children and Im working to put myself in position so that I can see them more often. If you are a father and the relationship with your kids is not right strive to work on it. Write a letter, make a call or visit them in person. In whatever way you can reach out and make a connection.

No More Devil
October 24, 2008Did you know that the Tampa Bay Rays made it to the World Series? Last year they were called the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Team officials were tired of losing and wanted a new start so they decided to take the word Devil off of their team name. Last year they were in last place. Tamp Bay had never won more than 70 games in a season out of 162. They got rid of the Devil and have gone all the way to the World Series. What are your thoughts?

Politics Is Everything
October 24, 2008Over thirty years ago I would wake up each morning and hear a song that my brother wrote and recorded called “Politics Is Everything.” I never knew that in 2008 it would take 30 years for his musical prophecy to come true. The race for the presidency between Barack Obama and John McCaign is one for the ages. I voted early so I wont have to stand in the long lines. Each day we are consumed with he said and she said with the mindset that we have to filter our conscience and make a politically correct vote for the President. I can honestly say that some things in this election I understand and some things I don’t. One thing is for sure and that is my vote will count. Have you voted yet?

Give a WOE, a Word Of Encouragement
October 7, 2008When I was down and out a few years ago I looked up woe in the dictionary. Woe meant sorrrow, disaster, trouble and evil. A woe to you might be a job loss and to someone else it might the loss of a loved one. I had lost my first marriage and time with my kids. What lifted my spirits was when God showed me that woe had a new light to it.
Woe no longer means trial or tribulation but it now means triumph and testimony. WOE means Word Of Encouragement. I tell people everywhere I go that “Before you leave work or go to sleep at night, give someone a WOE, a Word Of Encouragement.”

Dancing With the STAR in You
October 4, 2008Are you at home wanting to be a reality star? Do you even have the talent and the will to sacrifice so dreams can come true? Will your name be called one day so that stars will want to dance with you? If you looked in the mirror would you even dance with yourself?
Answer the questions. The answers will give you a sense of where you are and how your life can shine. Here is a four step process so that you can find the STAR in you.
Step 1 is for Seek. In Matthew 7:7 it says seek and ye shall find. What are you looking for in life? Life is inside out and not outside in. Many dreams and vision perish because they were never sought after. Have you ever wanted to go somewhere without knowing how to go?
Take a deep breath and realize that inside of you is the best of the best.
Step 2 is for Talent. What are you good at? Take your talents with you wherever you go. Success stories are made up of people who were ordinary that yearned to be extraordinary. Proverbs 18:16 says “A man´s gift maketh room for him and bringeth him before great men. Find what your gift is so that it can take you places that you never dreamed of going to.
People will support you if they have a dream to sow into.
Step 3 is for Adjustment. This is the elevator stage of your life. One thing is for sure life will bring you highs, lows, ups and down. It´s not what happens to you it´s how you react to what´s happens to you. When you are born you don´t choose your name, family or economic background. If you let those circumstances get in your way you are only achieving excuses.
One way to make adjustments is to add just exactly what is meant for you.
Step 4 is for Represent. Each and everyday that you go out and seek, talent, and make adjustments you have to be the best that you can be. Represent who you are and the one that God made you uniquely to be. Keep rising through the good and the bad so that your light will shine trials into triumphs.
Being yourself is who you are and that´s what will lead you to your STAR.
Ty Howard is a good friend of mine and he tells me all the time that “you may be delayed, but rarely denied.” Guess what? Your favorite song is playing and the one you wanted to dance with all your life is inside of you.
Will you take this dance or stay in fear and live the rest of your life as a wallflower.
My late great mother´s favorite song was Shining Star by the Manhattan´s. Don´t just be a STAR, strive to be a Shining STAR, because inside is who you are.
