Dream Like DARIUS to Get Moore Out Of Life

April 2, 2020

by Derrick Hayes the “enTIEtainer”

Did you know that when you work in a hostile environment someone might tell you something that sounds crazy now but it just might turn out to be the greatest news you should of ever listened to? Too bad for many of us because when we don’t want to hear or do certain things that others bring our way we run them off or turn our backs to them.

One day my co-worker Darius Moore asked me to participate in Bow Tie Monday with him and deep down inside I wanted to say no but I soon realized that there was not anyone else in sight that would support his idea and do it with him.

In my possession I had at least two clip on bow ties that would get me through two Bow Tie Mondays so I decided to give it a try and through his name DARIUS I’m here to discuss the 6 ways to get Moore out of life.

D is for Dream.  I never asked Brother Moore where he got the idea for Bow Tie Monday but I’m still thankful to this day that he asked me. There are more dreams in the cemetery than inside of people that are alive. Many are scared to fail or not try because others might laugh at them. DARIUS dream and my support to his idea were like peanut butter and jelly because they were meant for each other. You can’t live dreams if you never live and dream.

A is for Action.  An average person will dream but an above average person will actually put the dream into action and live the dream. The first time I participated in Bow Tie Monday I saw and felt a change in the atmosphere in our working environment.

People smiled and were giving up compliments and some even wanted to get to know more about us. Some of the students we work with do not talk or use very few words so when I noticed that they liked the change that they saw it was a no brainer for next week. I kept laughing to myself on the inside saying, “All of this because of a neck tie.”

R is for Remain. In life it is not the adversity you face but it is how you face the adversity that can determine how successful you are for the rest of your life. A TIE changing moment came one Sunday afternoon when I wanted to get a new bow tie to wear but it was storming and every element of weather was outside to keep me inside including rain, thunder and lightning.

My mind was made up that I would have a tie for Bow Tie Monday so I started to think how I could turn the regular ties that I had into the bow ties that I need. I watched videos on YouTube and I learned how to do it and I knew right then that I would never have to miss another Bow Tie Monday.

I is for Inspire.  The more and more we took action with the dream the more and more others were inspired. At least once a week we showed a positive image with two black men dressed up and this truly began to inspire others inside our classroom, outside our classroom, throughout the school and in the community.

People started to ask questions and participate and even wanted to learn how to turn regular ties into bow ties. It made impossible things seem possible.

U is for Unique. When you do something long enough you will want to get better at it and even want to find a new way to do it.  I never agreed to do Bow Tie Monday thinking that one day I would learn how to make my own ties.

In order to get better in whatever you do you have to find ways to step your game up. I was doing Bow Tie Monday but did not even know how to tie a self-tie bow tie. After I learned how to tie one I was excited and bought some fabric so that someone could make me a make a bow tie to wear to a Christmas Party.

After three different people that knew how to sew told me that they could not make me a bow tie I heard voices that would teach me step by step in how to make a bow tie without sewing. Now because I did not give up I can make regular ties, bow ties, ascots and pocket squares without sewing and I have a niche without a stitch.

S is for Serve. When I was chasing money I was broke but when I began to serve I have never missed a meal or deal because I live by the motto, “In order to get a blessing you have to be a blessing.”

The more I learned the more I wanted to teach others. Everyone is on different levels so there is always someone that you can teach. When I speak to youth groups I do my best to make sure every one of them has a tie so that they have a tangible tool that they can take home with them and practice the techniques that I teach them.

There are no odds for what I’m doing now and how I’m doing it.  I have seen myself go from not even wanting to wear a tie to traveling to different parts of the United States of America teaching others how to tie a tie.

There is a Dream inside of DARIUS just like there is inside of you. Success will come but you have to take Action, Remain, Inspire, be Unique and do everything you can to Serve others and this is how you will get Moore out of life.

Don’t Complain…COMPETE: The 7 Things You Will Gain Along The Way

March 29, 2020

by Derrick Hayes the “enTIEtainer”

A few months ago I was at the IMPRESS ME Sports facility with Calvin Hodge and I purchased a wristband that read Don’t Complain…COMPETE! This inspired me to think about The 7 Things that we will gain if we just COMPETE.

C is for Confidence. The more you train to be at your best you will start to see great results when you are in the game. When you see for yourself that you are able to compete with the best that is out there it will instill confidence in you.

O is for Others. As you gain more confidence others will find ways to use your talents and put you in more positions to grow and become great. Even boxers, golfers and tennis players have others with them and behind them so never forget that it takes a team to build up your dream.

M is for Motivation. When you start to see the light that you can become you know that there is a tunnel for you to travel through.  Always wake up with the will to get the most out of your skill. Not everyone has the same talent but everyone has the opportunity to get the same results.

P is for Purpose. The more you play the game or give back to your industry the more you will learn what wakes you up and why you even want to keep on keeping on.  The less you complain and the more you train the more your purpose in life will have the opportunity to gain.

E is for Endurance. When you know your purpose more times than not you are more than willing to give it all you got to make or keep your spot. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. always says “Tough times don’t last but tough people do.” Even when you see a stop sign it does not mean it is a symbol for you to stop what you are doing forever.

T is for Test.  Any scholar or athlete that wakes up motivated with a purpose is going to be hard to beat once they put their feet on concrete.  The more you are prepared and willing to make it happen the more tests that you will pass with flying colors. There are levels for you to climb and each step you take up the mountain the closer you will be to reach your peak.

E is for Excellence. How great do you want to be? Are you the champion that you want the world to see? Ex is in the world excellence because along the way you will have to ex out people, places and things that you used to do that stand in the way of your breakthrough.  Raise your arms in the air like Rocky. You started out as a beginner and now you are a winner.

The next time you get ready to complain, think about this lesson and COMPETE.

TIP (To Increase Possibilities) Tuesday

April 25, 2017

Welcome to TIP (To Increase Possibilities) Tuesday where I give you a nugget that can help you build a gold mine.

Write down your first name or industry keyword and put the word Interview right next to it.

For example my name is DERRICK so I started to give a DERRICK Interview with others that were an expert entrepreneur athlete or philanthropist.

The industry I work in is education with an emphasis in autism so I created the AUTISM where I interview parents so that they can help other parents who have children on the spectrum.

After you write down your name or keyword give a special keyword for each letter in your name or industry word.

For example the words for the DERRICK Interview are Dream Education Resources Ready Individual Challenges and Keys.

The next thing you can do is to put your word into a question that you can ask others. In the DERRICK Interview the D is for Dream so I ask people all over the world, what is your Dream?

You can add more life to your blog interview series by including pictures, bios and social media links. Here is a link to the questions in my DERRICK Interview along with some of the other DERRICK Interviews that I have donehttps://encouragementspeaker.wordpress.com/derrick-interview/

The AUTISM Interview series was pitched to and picked up by Autism Parenting Magazine and their website where you can subscribe to and receive these interviews and more is http://www.autismparentingmagazine.com

Don’t delay and start your interview series today and you will see in a few days how this process can pave a way.

DERRICK Interview with Street Lotto the President of OOOG Brand

July 15, 2015

StreetLottoEncouragement Speaker Derrick Hayes gives a DERRICK Interview by asking 7 questions through each letter of his first name to give you an insightful perspective from other experts, entrepreneurs, celebrities and up and coming super stars.

Today’s DERRICK Interview is with Street Lotto who is the President of the OOOG Brand. The meaning of OOOG is wisdom acquired through life experience, struggle, endurance, and set backs. A OOOG has stayed the course through all it’s up and downs never giving up on his/her dreams, passions, or goals. A OOOG is one that is a shining example to those ahead of them, beside them, and the ones to come. Three times GREAT, Three times a GENIUS, Three times GRAND. To be labeled as a Triple OG means you’ve earned the RESPECT to represent the OOOG Brand‼️

Born in Cincinnati, now residing in Atlanta, Lotto sought opportunity to better himself and focus on a career in music, overcoming the obstacles of the drug trade in his native city. “Money was never the focus for me, only a means.

Through the years, Lotto has aligned himself with well established brands like Coca- Cola, Apple Inc., Snoop Dogg, and 98 Degrees!  Including going on tour with multi- platinum artists streaming from The Nappy Roots to Jeff Timmons (founding member of 98 Degrees). On the list of accomplishments also includes his collaboration with Ted Talk’s “TED X”. In celebration of 1 billion visits to the company’s site (tedtalks.com), Lotto penned and performed  “TRANSCEND”, the theme song for the well attended convention. Scoring even bigger, he was featured along with Dallas Austin, and Too $hort, on the billboard nominated mobile app Zooz Beat made available on iPhone receiving over 1.6 million downloads.

Though in Atlanta, Lotto has always been compared to and inspired by west coast hip hop. At points, he recalls spending months at a time on the west coast, submerged in it’s culture. “I don’t know why, I just always got love from the west. The music was comfortable to me. I guess that’s why they took to me”, he explained. “Collaborating with Cali veterans like Daz Dillinger and Bay area artists Mistah FAB and Turf Talk inspired me to do something different. “My new project is produced totally by DJ POOH protégé, west coast producer, TWEEK BEATZ whose credits include: Snoop Dogg, Keisha Cole, Glasses Malone, Jim Jones, Crooked I, and Suga Free, to name a few. I just wondered what it would sound like if somebody from over here, fused sounds with somebody over there?”

The new single “#GO”, is from the full length album Levi’s And Chucks, produced by Tweek Beatz.  Why Levi’s And Chucks? Both brands are synonymous with classic American culture, appealing, but not limited to, black and white, but EVERY race, creed, and color within the make up of our society, current and future. They will forever be a mainstay in our society,  just like the material from this LP. Classic. Original. Timeless….

My dream has always been to not only be a major artist with a voice that effects change, but also a business mogul that would inspire people that grew up in places like where I (originally) come from, Cincinnati, Ohio.

E is for Education: What is your background in Education?

I finished High School and 2 years of college before I entered the “real” world. I didn’t finish college. To tell you the truth, I really had no desire to finish school. I was there to continue my football career. But, once I figured out that ship had sailed, I wanted to sell enough weed to buy a dope crib with a dope ride and a dope chick to complete the cipher! (laughs). I eventually came back home and did just that. I started to also get into making the music that was the soundtrack to my lifestyle at that point. That lead me into wanting to take music further. But there was no real music scene in Cincinnati, so I moved to the A! Over the last decade and a half, I’ve been traveling the states performing, getting deals, losing them, making money, losing it, all in efforts to figure out how to brand myself to the masses. I guess you can say, I’ve put my 10,000 hours in! (laughs) Over time, I’ve just figured out how to give people something dope, yet honest, and inspirational. What I have figured out in music, comedy, and branding- nothing beats truth nor purpose and both are heavily applied to the OOOG Brand!

OOOGBrandR is for Resource: What makes you stand out or unique?

My resources include my network. Through being hungry in this business for years, you encounter alot of influential people behind those doors. Some say YES , and some say NO. One thing that I picked up is, just because they said NO doesn’t mean somewhere down the line I can’t get a yes out of them. See, some people will never  change, thank GOD, circumstances do! So what happens is, now, most of them not only ride for me, but they open new doors that weren’t there before. The moral to the story- KEEP PUSHIN’!!!

R is for Ready: When did you know you were ready for what you are doing now?

You just know. Things start happening and you don’t have to ask questions anymore. You know the answers, and feel God’s favor surrounding you like a force field.

I is for Individual: Name one individual that others should learn more about and why?

The source! G-O-D! People should really get to know Him. I grew up with my dad, so I knew him, and could with certainty trust all he said he would do for me- because I knew him. Others weren’t as fortunate. They didn’t grow up with a father around, so they learned to trust themselves more. Even if dad was half there, he wasn’t all the way there. So if you don’t really know the man, how could you really trust him? The same principle applies to knowing the Lord. I know men, that are now grown, that want to find and meet their father just to learn more about themselves. Imagine if you find the Father God Himself, you’d learn ALL about yourself and untapped potential, feel me? To know HIM is to know yourself. You will know His will, then discover your purpose!

C is for Challenges: What challenges have you faced along the way?

Challenges- I’ve had to overcome the obstacles of the game like anyone else that stayed the course. Having to learn, people are NOT what they SAY, they ARE what they DO! Most people will tell you your dreams are impossible- and they ARE- for THEM! It isn’t their purpose to do what you do, so they don’t have the vision to see what you see. I learned not to get caught up in what didn’t work before. That was them- THIS IS ME! I expect to win. Maybe it doesn’t happen right away, but it will in HIS time. And 10 times out of 10, if it don’t happen, it wasn’t for me, and I’m good with that. I also learned that nobody is going to work harder for your dream than YOU, regardless of what they may tell you or make it look like. You get out what you put in.

K is for Keys: What keys to success can you leave for others?

One sure fire way of not achieving your dream is to quit!

Visit Street Lotto and the OOOG Brand for more information.
